“A dog will flatter you but you have to flatter the cat.”- George Mikes

So, this is just a test character design for Venus, one of my three cats.

The Adorable Evil

Venus is the youngest of my cats and though she is almost a year and a half old she still manages to look just like a kitten at all times. She is also one of the smartest cats I own. Her “brother”, Adonis is not so smart. Venus often does bad things and then leaves Adonis at the scene of the crime to take the punishment.

Here is Venus in real life, with Adonis.

How we got these two: I have a very old cat named Snowball, she’s 18 or 19 and I’ve had her since I was 6. Snowball doesn’t like other cats but she also hates being lonely. When my boyfriend and I first started dating I had Snowball and another kitten named Odyesseus. He was very rowdy, too much for Snowy. So Edward bought me a tiny little ball of gray fur: Adonis. Two weeks later Odysseus ran away never to return, so now I have this six week old kitten with no friends because Snowball isn’t going to play with him. So we go back to the same pound and they have a little girl kitten who matched him except she has the white stripes and is a little lighter (see above photo). Edward didn’t want a girl cat, he thought she wouldn’t be as playful. But I really wanted another female. We took her home and the two have been inseperable. Only a month apart they grew up like siblings.

Oh, and Edward was wrong. Venus is crafty and playful while Adonis is mellow and loving. Their dynamic is wonderful especially when you add in Snowball, the Queen. I’m not a great artist but I think a few sketches about thei life will still be amusing.
